Frequently Asked Questions
If you have a question for which you cannot find the answer, please feel welcome to contact us by phone or email.
Are you a real florist? What is your guarantee? What is your delivery policy if the recipient is not available or not home? What about deliveries going out of state? How can I make my flowers last longer? How can I go about getting an order changed or cancelled? What is your substitution policy? What is your Privacy Policy?
Are you a real florist?
Yes, we are a real brick-and-mortar florist located at 1984 Chain Bridge Rd, McLean, VA near the Tysons Corner Center. We were established in 1989 and are still managed by the founders – Penha and Brad Parker. We import flowers from around the world and have fantastically talented designers whose creations we deliver daily in our own easily recognizable purple vans throughout the entire metro DC region.
Don’t be fooled by internet only florists who imply that they are a local “family-owned” business. Drill down and try to find a local address. You probably won’t be able to, but if you do, it’s liable to be several time zones away. Internet only florists typically take a large chunk of your money off the top before they sub-contract out your order to a variety of fulfillment centers.
We strive every day to be an authentic florist seeking to use flowers in a most beautiful way to honor your sentiments. The trust our customers put in us means a great deal to us.
What is your guarantee?
All of our work carries a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are displeased in any way, please contact us immediately. We want to hear from you and make right any problem with your order. You can call us at: 703-442-8203 or email us at: customer.service@myflorist.com
What is your delivery policy if the recipient is not available or not home?
We make every effort possible to get your order delivered to the recipient on the day requested. When a delivery is going to a business we typically must leave it with a receptionist or with a security guard. We then get a verbal commitment from them that they will get it to the recipient. We rarely ever have a problem with deliveries going to businesses as everyone loves to be involved with such beautiful gifts.
When delivering to a resident where nobody is home, our first option is to leave it at the door if the weather is not too hot or too cold and there is also adequate protection. After leaving it at the door we will leave a message on the recipient’s phone as to exactly where the package has been left to insure completion of the delivery. If conditions do not allow us to leave the package at the door, we will leave it with a neighbor. After doing so, we will leave a message on the recipient’s phone with the neighbor’s address. We also tag the front door indicating the address where their package was left.
What about deliveries going out of state?
Many of our customers trust us to find the right florist for their out-of-state needs. In fact, we have developed over the years our own preferred list of floral partners within the Teleflora network who we have vetted and found to have our same high standards. When placing your out-of-town order with us, you can rest assured it will be properly cared for, and it also carries our 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Furthermore, we can take orders out-of-state for same day delivery right up to 1pm in the time zone of delivery. Thus, with us being on the east coast, we can take orders to the west coast right up until 4pm EST.
How can I make my flowers last longer?
- Keep in a cool place and away from direct sunlight, heating and cooling vents and fans, and way from other sources of heat such as radiators, stoves and televisions.
- Add water every day, particularly in the first 24 hours when they are thirstiest.
- If you have received flowers not already in water (perhaps as a presentation bouquet), get your vase first filled with warm water (add floral food if you have it) and then cut the stems with a sharp knife. Immediately upon cutting a stem put it in the vase. Don’t leave it out in the open air.
- Use floral food whenever possible. The floral food includes nutrients for the flowers and also controls bad bacteria that can clog the stems interfering with their ability to drink. Follow the directions so you get the proper ratio of water to flower food.
How can I go about getting an order changed or cancelled?
For day of delivery requests, we highly recommend that you call us as early as possible. If it is before business hours, please leave us a message on our after-hours voicemail. Orders already delivered or out on delivery cannot be cancelled. If your request is for a future date, it can be called in or it can be submitted by email to: customer.service@myflorist.com. We always do everything possible to accommodate your requests.
What is your substitution policy?
Occasionally, it is necessary to substitute some flowers due to seasonal factors or supply chain interruptions. However, we always seek to substitute with equal or greater value and to maintain the same look and feel of the design chosen. If we feel major substitutions are necessary, we will contact you to discuss alternative options.
